Last week, to break the monotony of our teaching days, we decided to take flight on the Singapore flyer.

Both of my ex neighbours were on board with OPS. The 30 minutes rotation was rather slow but again we were busy having our edgy photos taken by our 'renowned' photographer to take notice.
Laughter filled the capsule throughout the ride, luckily for us there were just 2 more passenger on board who seemed to be intrigued by the whole experience to be affected by our presence. All of us agreed that the night view was more spectacular than during the day. I guess i will get to compare both views soon coz i have plan to bring my nieces to experience this ride with me.

Singapore Flyer- a moving experience at every turn.

Experience it urself like we did.

I was watching Oprah last nite when she recommended this book by Ken Follett. She is a sucker for good love story, & she admitted that whe was surprised at her own recommendation cos this is the first time she introduced a book set in the Middle Age.
She added that this book is a ripping read coz there’s murder, arson, treachery, torture, love, and lust.
I've read a few books introduced by her and was never disappointed.I guess this is the next book im gonna grab after i finish my latest buy, by Jodi Picoult.

Woke up this morning to take part in CTCP 2008, thats short for Counter Terrorism & Crime Prevention Race, jointly organised by Zhenghua NPC and CSSP. It was like a mini Amazing race but instead of travelling all over the world and exploring exotic countries, we got to explore the nooks and cranies of Bukit Panjang area. OPS and I made up a team , while SBS & L.ivan formed another team ,representing our school. There were 20 teams altogether but our nearest competitor was actually SBS and L.ivan.. hehehe.. We tried to help them in the process..BUT we were snapped at condescendingly as they insisted that they have their own plan

We beat them of coz when my team came in 2nd runner up.

Sorry guys, better luck next time..

At 10 different checkpoints, we were given tasks to complete, & learning useful lessons on counter terrorism and crime prevention at the same time. We were to identify a suspicious character lurking in a public place, to report a suspicious parcel at a public station, to execute CPR on a dummy and to extinguish a fire, among others.
Running around the area was no mean feat but we managed & emerged top 3.

WELL DONE 2 US!!

A cadet asked me this afternoon,
"Sir when we go BERAK...are u goin too?
" Of coz not..!" was my quick reply...hehe
His frens around him broke into hilarious fits..he meant PERAK..a destination we have planned for the June holidays not 'berak', a malay verb, which means to defecate.

I am encouraged to include this song after being inspired by Miss Kuek's obssesion with the Fish. Altho' many a time i was unable to comprehend the lyrics, i enjoyed the melody. Miss kuek's latest entry included FIsh's song with lyrics specially dedicated to a special someone.
Well, here's another song dedicated to our dear friend,by my fave singer Anuar Zain, with a translation done in a scurry..enjoy

PLEASE LEAVE ME
You said there is no love
I am left to hold on to this sadness alone
All my yearning to be with u forever totally vanished

U told me he is more perfect
He is your life, He is your soul.
Your final whisper pierced deep into my heart.
Now u wanna be back with me

Chorus:
Go.. Leave me.
I need u no more
To be part of my life story
I am happy without u
Let me be where I am
To find my own light

Your final whisper pierced deep into my heart.
Now u wanna be back with me yet again..

Bridge:
Don’t u hurt my heart again
I refuse to feel ur presence in my world.
GET LOST FROM MY LIFE!!

Segala kejayaan dan kesejateraanku adalah kerana keizinanNya.
Ianya kumiliki tanpa ku sangka, tanpa ku duga.
Alhamdullilah, sekali lagi.

A fren just came back from an exotic island and bought me an equally exotic gift. Its a set of sliver plated coffee spoons, packaged in a aquamarine-coloured organza bag and inserted into a weaved purse-like gift bag.
Love them!
My guests can now enjoy coffee or expresso served in Metropolitan Museum of Art cups stirred with a silver plated spoons.
SO HC!

Thank you very much.

Gibson - STOP mumbling to yourself!
Annabelle & Shihui - STOP gossiping
No. 40 - STOP dozing off...

Alrite now, i need to write a report on the actual observation of my TT.

I am falling in love again..with a domestic godess no less..

If a goddess walked the earth today I am more than positive she would look like NL. Tall, curvaceous, long black hair, creamy skin and a British accent. She is the embodiment of these things and she can cook too.
Her succulent and easy to prepare recipes have delighted audiences the world over.
Me included!
She comes across as a woman inspired by the intricacies of food with a compelling need to share them with whoever will read, watch and listen. She's easy to fall in love with.

I was on my way home last nite, when i saw a couple at the void deck. They were sitting on a same bench but slightly far apart ,probably whispering sweet nothings to each other.
I imperturbably took a glance at them when i heard a husky voice, BUT not from the man..
"Teacher, going home..?"

I was caught off-guard by that query. 'She' was smiling as the question was directed to me. I dun think 'she' was from my present school... but i was pleasantly pleased that 'she' still acknowledged me tho 'she' wasnt the same person i last knew her as..intriguing...I just didnt know how to respond..it was weird.
Anyway, it reminded me of an artist ARCHIMBOLDO, whose works are just as intriguing and captivating as the whole experience last nite..
Observe and enjoy...hehe

Yesterday was the much waited gerls' category in the campcraft competition, after it was postponed from many weeks ago. Luckily for us, the weather was fine & sunny in the morning, coz it poured heavily later in the afternoon. Another postponement was inevitable for the other units gerls' team slotted in the afternoon, that the results will also be announced later next week, from the initial Monday.
For our gerls team, well done for the team work. Altho' the flag pole was slightly skewed..even tho' the flag pole almost hit one of the gerls.. twice... always remember winning is always a bonus..

Just came back from Siti's concert @Esplanade with OPS. We attended her first concert here 3 years ago @ the Indoor Stadium, while she was still 'jambu' so said Siti herself just now, which is the Malay local slang for 'young pretty thing'..hehe... Although her image had changed after her pilgrimage to Haj ,her vocal prowess remains unchanged , still fantastic and as superb as before.
Although we both agreed that her concert 3 years ago was more interactive and livelier, also due to the 'atas' image of the Esplanade...we enjoyed this concert no less.
OPS used to sing her songs during our karaoke sessions all the time, he also once performed her song 'Percayalah' with Miss kuek for a National Day concert not so many years ago.

Looking forward to her next appearance here..soon...gd nite all!

I woke up early this morning tho' i dun have to go to work. Always had difficulty in getting up on weekdays & when i have the opportunity to sleep longer..i cant.
Anyway..i guess one reason i couldnt go back to sleep was because of the sms i received. Its a habit to check my mobile upon waking up to check any missed call or sms while i was soundly asleep. Who knows someone missing me in the wee hours ...hehe..
Anyway back to the sms, it was a surprise!
A wonderful surprise!
Really unexpected!
A startling revelation..
I really wish i could receive more of such sms...
Have a brilliant weekend u all...i noe i will..

Asthetics this term is dance.

Traditional Malay & indian dance would be introduced to the students. This afternoon was the first session and wat a ball they had. First was the hand movements, then followed by the awkward neck & head movements typically found in many Bollywood movies..wat raw talent we had discovered.
Jingmeng was definitely enjoying himself ,immersing in the atmosphere..hehee...so were Eugene & Haziq.
The gerls did quite well too, give Wei May and Annabelle saris, the Indian costume and some dazzling bling-bling and they are all set to go..to perform a Bollywood number ...hehe..

I'm still in my art room..till late these few days. It's always fun-filled with activities immediately after school, well...it has become more that just an art room.
At this moment, a silk screen workshop is being carried out in the 1st art room, while i am conducting remedials for my O level artists while some sec 2s are putting final touches on their canvases. At the same time, SBS is pitting his new- found skill solving the rubik's cube, even challenging me to a mini competition..he won...hehe
I've always conducted my NPCC meeting in this very room, other UGs also sometimes 'borrowed' this room for art related activities.
We have also allowed other departments, relunctantly of course, to conduct their 'lecture' in my art room too. This has fast becoming a multi-purpose room, in its true sense.
They were definitey laughter from this room of coz, and tears too.. from panic not meeting datelines, tears from frustration and tears from fright. Yes, fright because during one nite session, while they were horsing around, they tot they heard laughter outside the window facing the field. No Kidding!!
More details in my future entry..need to leave soon..before kena lock out again...hehe

The supposed 1 week break had just ended, but shaggyfish, mockingbird and i are already planning our next Bangkok trip. We initially wanted to escape to the Land of Thousand Smiles during the Good Friday long weekend, but decided against it. Shaggyfish is going off to Cambodia ,while Mockingbird and I have a date with Dato' Siti @ the Esplanade.

The last time we travelled together on a makan & shop-till-we-drop to Bangkok was ages ago in 2006..we missed shopping @ Siam Paragon, authentic Thai cuisine @Taling Pling & of course our all-time fave Jap fare @Fuji..salivating already..hehe

We have to schedule our trip wisely ,unlike some of our friends who without battling their eyelids, flew to Bangkok @ every holiday opportunity..hehe, to Korea at the snap of their fingers, to London at their fancy or a costly flight to KL..

Of course we are also looking forward to following trips after Bangkok, Krabi with Shaggy & gang..and white water rafting @Perak with Mockingbird & company.. however, if opportunity to travel further arises...we will definitely grab them.

I was disgusted when an innocent looking student, with an offbeat hairstyle asked me an equally offbeat question;
"Cher, do u watch porn?"
..& nonchalantly added, " Cher do u have VCDs or do u download?"..
..followed by other unprintable questions, which i was too embarrased to answer or i was blushing too much that inevitably i forgotten the question.

Last Friday, accompanied by OPS and SBS, we went on a Heritage Trail... actually prep for the heritage proficiency badge. The cadets have to complete a booklet project, consisting of 3 sections which carries 60% and a written test that completes the 100% weightage.
We were lucky for the good weather which made the roving and the exploration of the heritage trail route bearable.
Dateline for the project is 28 march 2008, also the date of the test.
GOOD LUCK ALL!

Singapore has been hit by chilly temperatures, torrential rain..as observed by mocking bird, it was also touched on by our PM Lee at a charity dinner last nite.
PM Lee said, "If we save too little for a rainy day and a storm hits us unexpectedly, the consequences can be devastating." He was highlighting the importance of being frugal, & how Singaporeans spend and live beyond their means ..."

I totally agree with MP Lee, being frugal is soon becoming my new lavish!

But let me add, I'm not real frugal or thrifty, ... I just don't waste money on little things that don't matter, but spend on big things that do...hehe

What holiday?
I hate to argue with taxi drivers who insisted that teachers have an easy life, enjoying long breaks, just like the school students...ya rite!

Anyway, back in school again for art remedial , my 4th day in a short span of a week of wat supposed to be a one week break. Attendance wasnt as good as yesterday, that today i decided to end class at 1.59pm, since i arrived @9.59am...very calculative, very precised..observed mocking bird. I refused to stay any longer because with the speed they were progressing, u would think their major exams are next year..

Anyway, managed to have my hair cut in town, with the same stylist from 8 years ago, tho the price has risen like 20 times since...hehe. Met SD for dinner after that, & managed to solve the convolution of the rubix cube under his patience tutorage. He even mentioned that i learnt faster than one mocking bird, I was definitely flattered ..more training & i am all set to go..

THANK U sir!

What is the No.1 rule that every man should live by?
A question posted to a director by a local magazine.

Don't whine. Suck it up, move on, be stoic.

Whats is ur No.1 rule u live by?
Tell me about it.

It was a lazy Sunday last evening. Tuition was cancelled coz my nieces were unavailable, it was a voluntary session anyway.. Sunday has always been a stay home day for me, reading the newspapers, brunch at 2pm, & stoning in front of the telly. However, after my usual dose of 3 CSIs on cable, there was basically nothing else to watch.. Out came my FRIENDS VCDs, SEASON 9,watching it for the zillionth time but still enjoying it like it was my 1st!..hehe

Here'a funny dialogue from a scene taken FRIENDS, between Rachel and her sister Amy.

Amy - I am so busy focusing on my career!

Rachel - What career?

Amy - I am a decorator

Rachel - You decorated dad’s office and now you’re a decorator! OK! OK! I went to the zoo yesterday and now I am a koala bear !

Amy reminded me of my students who are always in Lalaland , unrealistic and impractical!!

Play soccer in school = professional soccer player.

Took part in school concert = next campus superstar or Anugerah winner!

Play basketball= next YAO MING..hehe

I aways hark them back to education which is of pivotal concern. They can be any of the above but education still comes first..

I am extremely proud of my NCOs, they not only excel in NPCC matters..they excel in sports and games too. During our School's Annual Track & Field Meet, our boys team came in 1st in the Inter CCA 4X100m relay

Yesterday, my NCOs made me proud again. They came out top in the Inter Unit Captain's Ball Competition organised by JVSS NPCC Unit. Team ZH, captained by SBS, defeated 11 other units to emerge the overall winner in this competition.
Congratulations guys and gerls!

On Tuesday, our team will compete in yet another competition, which will be led by Wayne, organised by VSS NPCC Unit.

Good luck Guys!
Enjoy the experience. Winning is always a bonus.

The inaugural Nite Cycling 2008 jointly organised by GG and NPCC this Monday evening, has to be postponed indefinitely. The unforseen circumstances arised gave us no choice but to push it to a later date... hopefully.
The main obstacle is the inability to secure a valid permit in time for the event. Having at least 50 bicycles moving in unison in the wee hours of the morning, along with safety vehicles can cause quite a spactacle, therefore a police permit is mandotary.

I am fully aware that both the GG gerls and my cadets are looking forward to this joy ride. However i guess no one should compromise with safety, therefore no worries , perhaps before the June holidays it will happen.

Anyway, i understood more parties are interested to join us then.
I say, the more the merrier..to my cadets, sorry for the disappointment.

Enjoy the rest of the holiday. Have a good break guys!

Couldn't remember the last movie i've watched this year...always had to cancel or postphone a movie date, for some reason or another. Anyway, watched 2 movies yesterday after the school's Track & Field Meet.

1st, we watched Leap Years after Miss Kuek's recommendation in her blog. 4 of us, watched this locally-produced movie, a colleague actually teared during the movie while the mocking bird kept on laughing at some not-so-funny moments...many times...ask him y lah!

After the movie, we argued on the probabilties of the plot.
We questioned the sensibility of Li-Ann
We mulled over the coincidences..
We contemplated on possible endings..even the different accents ...
Actually, it is one of the better local movie..thus far...in my opinion lah.

We played the adjective game during the camp as part of the ice-breaker segment. The secondary one cadets loved it. We were supposed to pair our names up with an adjective with a similar alphabet.

Examples;
Sensational Shamkahlo
Jubilant Jonathan
Daring Darwin
Nice Nicholas
Handsome Haikel
Stunning Saiful

Mr Ong was One & Only Ong..tho i thot Ostentatious Ong would be more apt..hehe

Lenient Luo and Lovable Luo was suggested by our sec one cadet, Nimble Neo, for Shengda, our most loyal CI. We had a good laugh at those suggestions, obviously his reputation was not made known to them.. yet

The craze is back.
My colleagues.
My students.
Even the mocking back was not spared.. he was 'howlian-ning' all day long since he was taught by his rubix cube 'sifu' in a matter of few hours, he claimed.

I saw many cubes on my colleagues' table, mostly confiscated from students who prefered to solve the cubix puzzle that the puzzle given by their teachers.

A colleague has been trying a mini cube attached to a keychain, not sure of her rate of success tho'.

A cadet was equally enticed by the enigma of this puzzle. Bought one just this evening @ $2, not willing to spend $10.90 when the function is similar...hehe

The mocking bird has been trying to share the conundrum of this magic cube with me twice during the camp we had last weekend, but i dozed off those both times.

DONT give up on me please..hehe

I got the biggest scare in my life a few days. It was before my nite class when i took out my green mini crumpler and found it EMPTY.

I was TRAUMATIZED!
There was $304 collected from 38 students who paid $8 each.
There was also approximately $300 collected from the Jogathan drive.
My class was rather understanding towards my predicament, even encouraged me to call the school's OM and search the staff room and my art room, to ensure that i wont have a sleepless nite..thanx guys.
Anyway, early in the morning, which was my !st day of camp, i immediately looked under my table upon reaching school..NOTHING..i felt disappointed! Dejected! Lost and broke all together..

...to cut it short. EVENTUALLY i found it, somewhere on the floor, all $600 of it..

THE MORALE of the STORY. DONT BE CARELESS!..
