Was being interviewed by a good friend's daughter, Sarah, for her final assessment on broadcasting. I was early for the session to do some early prep work..it was rather fun.
Half-way through the interview, a 'listener' with questions, prepared by her lecturer who is also the assessor, posed questions to me. I was just too glad to be able to help with the dilemma that the 'listener' was facing...haha..
Anyway, the 'DJ' who interviewed me for the session got an 'A' for this assignment. Congrats. It was a really fun experience and call me back anytime. I was told by Sarah that the infamous Miss Boomz, yes Miss Riss herself was one of the guest interviewed...but no one gave a hoot when she arrived..hahahha..

It was a boring.. late Saturday morning..with many more assignments due next week.. but i was rushing to UCC as part of the compulsory museum visit for one of the Art module. Although it was a rush-rush affair, i was impressed by the art pieces from Indonesia.
Both pieces are by Rudi Mantofani, and the one above was actually done using acryllic on canvas and it looks like chalk on canvas. My classmates were equally impressed..while the one below were one of his 'knife' series..HUGE BIG KNIVES.. Well at least if u were back stabbed ..u will definitely felt it immediately..a thot to ponder..haha
Some of the interesting pieces being exhibited...a self portrayed of a pontianak by an angmoh artist...maybe he kena disturbed by one in Singapore..haha

I was reading the comics that i bought for my niece when i came upon these poems on bachelors...yes...it touched the right cord! They are traditional poems that have been given a hilarious twist ..btw pls contact me personally for direct translations..OR u could attend my Malay class...near a CC near you...HAHAHA

The New Paper has always been my daily supplement..since my NS days..yes that long ago.
However recently, everytime i purchase my New Paper i will wear a smile on my face cos it reminded me of an incident not very long ago.
It was during the period when my artists were busy preparing for their Paper 1 in the art room almost every Saturdays. Anyway,there was a student, lets call him K, who always buy me lunch or drinks, everytime he buys himself lunch.
That day, I told him to buy 2 newspapers for me.
He came back after lunch with 2 NEW PAPERS..hehe... I asked him why do i need 2 NEW PAPERS?
When i said 2 newspaper, i meant 1 New Paper & 1 Straits Time.
He became the target of newpapers jokes since then..among his classmates & me especially.
Yes KangKang ..thats wasnt very long ago..haha

It was a mad rush. The O level Art paper is on the next day..& my artists have been burning midnite oils & sacrificing sleep for the the last few days just to produce at least 8 to 9 pages of prep work. A few of them were still asking for advise & putting the last touches on their masterpieces. They left at 6.30am on the actual day of paper, with sufficient time to change into their uniform before sitting for 3 hours completing their actual piece.

Well..i bought this huge canvas when i was pursuing my Advance diploma last year. I have this ambitious desire to finish it & mount it by Syawal 07..however Syawal 08 is coming to an end & it is still blank. Looking @ my HC ex neighbour completing one after another of her masterpieces, really inspired me. After my examinations, i will definitely start on it.

Gathered my artists & painted the town red..i meant silvermink ..its actually purplish grey. I ve also..i meant ..they've also repainted the Tifanny Blue wall white. Now i am ready for Hari Raya.

..another burnt saturday..but its OK
I am killing 2 birds with one stone.
My artist are finishing their coursework while my cadets are rendering their service to the 5-a side Children Soccer Challenge.
Anyway..the NCOs were supposed to be in full-uniform but the GOH couldnt make it ,so mufti would be more practical and more comfortable.
They were some national footballers present this morning but only those who follow the local football scene would know them. I was trying hard to remember their names only because they looked remotely familiar.
When the children were taking turns to have their photo taken with them, one of our AVA student included , one of my cadets asked,
" SIR, WHO IS HE..??"...well i dun blamed him..

Kena complaint again..by a parent..who called the school & said i didnt issue any consent form for their late stay in school. I was having NPCC camp over the weekend & allowed my artists to stay over too BUT with their parents' permission of cos!!.. as they are all at least 17 years old or older. Anyway, Miss V called & informed me about the complaint & told me to call the parent to settle the issue. With the no. in hand i called the form teacher & requested that she helped me instead. To make a looooooooong story short, it was apparently an aunt of a student who supposedly called on the mother's behalf. This made the students really angry & embarrassed at the same time...well...all are at peace now. Tho now the student & the aunt are NOT in best of term..Labels: ART, School

Fikirkan sejenak..
I received an sms (on 080808, @2123hrs, fr DLZY) that got me thinking... that enthused me into a whole whirl of self reflection...& more thinking. I always have good rapport with my students , my friends, fellow teachers, my colleagues...but the sms kept on repeating in my head...
1)Teacher (me) -Student Relationship - the severity?
2)Teacher (me)-teacher Relationship- the validity?

3)Student (me)-teacher Relationship- the reality?
4)Student(me)-student Relationship- the authenticity?
I wanted to explore no.1, the resistance, the susceptibility ..but i changed my mind...mungkin aku terlalu memikirkannya...lain kali saja lah aku kupas lagi.

I think this is the most challenging & difficult batch of N level artists. Sometimes i felt...well..nevermind how i felt.
I m just glad that they have submitted their coursework..yes FINALLY!!..tho the standard are much to be desired.
Well..some other highlights towards the submission date..
1)Being shouted at by a parent who thought that their child were spending way too much time with their coursework.
2)Being accused by a parent who felt that their child does not have time to do other things that he likes except MY art..my fault!?
3)Parents who couldnt care less if i was sacrificing my own time guiding my students & blame the coursework being too difficult ..again my fault!?
4)& another who simply thought that my time were not as precious as theirs and insisted i send their child home almost immediately ... mid way through their work...by all means go!!
..however there was a student who brought homemade food prepared by thoughtful mummy who wanted to thank me for guiding her child..
HOWEVER..all the best for Paper 2 ..people..
& GOOD LUCK TO MY REPLACEMENT NEXT YEAR!!

Although it was a National Day holiday, i had no holiday at all. My artists insisted on an art session as the dateline is only a few days away.Well, i supposed as long as they needed the guidance i will always be there for them.
I was quite impressed with the improvements some of my artist are progressing, although some took a longer time to master or familiarise a certain technique .

Went back to school yesterday afternoon to finish my artists' coursework which are due soon. Its right after campus when i realised my 1st tutorial for one module was cancelled this week. Well, stayed back quite late after most of them have dyed their fabrics..probably have to go back later this afternoon to do it all over again..& also to look-see look-see the NDP rehearsal..hehe..if i'm allowed lah.
Anyway, still received sms from my cadets..the new OC said this, the new OC wanted this..the OC said u must do this...well i guess they can always come back to me for help..if im even allowed to help..
Although my official last day was last Friday..i have been back to ZH almost everyday now..with the datelines of the course work approaching near.
I have also heard that my ex colleague had complained to another ex colleague who has left the school since, that she is feeling afraid that i might just leave my 'garbage' with her..
Perplexed!!
Why complained to another party in a faraway land when i have promised i will clear them all..& not that the other party can help either..

Thank you 5N3 and 4N3.
They surreptitiously plan the whole affair for a whole week, sneakily 'hijacked' my laptop for photographs for the slide show & stealthily sprang a surprise for me during our weekly weekend class yesterday evening.
Their 1st attempt was thwarted when i was incensed with the attendance & cancelled the nite class on Friday. Apparently some home made delicacies were turned away when their initial plan was foiled.
Last nite i was caught unaware, the slide show, the self-portrait montage which they painstakingly put together and the poems they've selected just for me.
Touching.
Emotionally Stiring.
The gesture was really appreciated.
Thank you to the mastermind, JEWEL & GANG, the other precious stones.
However, i must add, meeting the datelines & producing outstanding final product thus resulting in good grades would be an ideal, yet meaningful parting gift from all of u, if that is not too much to ask.

It was my first extra class with my O level students , after their very intensive MT classes for the O level Papers. Attendance wasnt encouraging, but i was glad they came. They were still embarking on their developmental prep work while the actual stitching and pulling were done behind scenes. New deadlines were given to dye their fabric, & another appointment made for next week. They have to complete everything...yes EVERYTHING..before i leave...before i can leave with an ease of mind..hehe

I was in school today to hang more paintings around the school compound.
My form class started it last week around the ramp area, as part of their CIP. Now the school looks stunning and vibrant with the vivid-coloured canvas paintings, a project the secondary 2s embarked on last semester.
Thank you 2E1!
I would also like to thank SBS for giving up his free periods, during post exams, to help us with the knots and the lashing.
Well, the art room was also decorated with the canvas paintings.
Now i hope that the room would provide an inspiration to my O levels artists to complete their course work soon..hopefully

I was disgusted when an innocent looking student, with an offbeat hairstyle asked me an equally offbeat question;
"Cher, do u watch porn?"
..& nonchalantly added, " Cher do u have VCDs or do u download?"..
..followed by other unprintable questions, which i was too embarrased to answer or i was blushing too much that inevitably i forgotten the question.Labels: ART
