My ex-cadets visited me yesterday afternoon. They were supposed to do some work..but we ended up having prata instead..hehe. I have tried many recipes lately by just watching TV & chicken curry is a piece of cake. But of coz they have to fry their own pratas..& ZW actually enjoyed doing just that for the rest of us.

..& for dessert, banana strawberry smoothie, ive learnt from FOOD 911...haha Labels: NPCC 08

Joined my friends for the Annual ATC @ Pulau Ubin over the weekend...oh how i missed those times when we spent many overseas camp together & all our crazy antics to occupy the time away...hehe

I definitely missed my cadets too. Their enthusiasm and their zeal for fun and excitement, however they are always on task and never fails to perform beyond expectation. Coincidentally, one of our girls, JPC, was selected to be the Best Female Camper for the secondary 2s. Congratulations!

Over the weekend..after the NIE Directors Challenge..i went straight to Marang Trail to join the cadets in the nite walk as part of the NCOs Camp 2008..which was also a SSgt test for the sec 3s NCOs. It was actually a cool evening walk cos after the light shower ..the place was more suitable for courting couples..the ambience and the cool weather. Although they were walking solo @ the Forest Walk before they reached Alexandra Arch, the sec2s enjoyed the walk very much.
Well it rained really heavy the next day when we reached Pasir Ris Park, that all the NCOs' planning for a fun time in the park has to be cancelled. It was such a waste since the place was equipped with a MAZE, mini obstacles course and even a mangrove park plus a herb garden. Next time maybe. .
The evening dinner was another challenging task when they have to hunt & performed many different tasks before they could be awarded with the raw ingredients for them to cook their own dinner, for their whole team. It turned out pretty delicious i might add.
AFter dinner, they had night drill followed by the obstacles course @ our newly added playpen. It turned out well too, anyway, after washing up, reflections and debriefing..we had chicken curry & french loaf for supper, an emergency plan just in case the communal dinner was a disaster but since it turned out well..the supper became a treat..

Well, after much discussion & deliberation..only 3 NCOs were being promoted to SSGTs. CONGRATULATIONS..JohnC also best NCO for the camp , ZWei and Kaiwen.Labels: NPCC 08

LOOKALIKES
I was on my way back from campus yesterday, when i saw someone very familiar , in a different school-u dozing off on bus, i try to take the bus home okay..on most occassion...hehe. Anyway, he lookes like one of my cadet, identical even to the way he wears his hair & succumbing to the afternoon heat & trying hard not to fall asleep..which he failed & finally snoozing throughout the journey.
I was in school this morning, when i asked Brend if he has a brother in that school. True enough, it was his identical twin..hehe..i almost wanted to take a snapshot of his brother sleeping but it would be rude..hehe.. Next time if i see him..i would..hahahaLabels: NPCC 08

Even my HOD CCA was there to support the event & the ever supportive P was present, to give away the trophies to the winners. Congratulations to all.

My students have commented that my blog has been rather somber lately. Is it because they know that i am leaving..or because.. Anyway, as i was looking at my vast collection of photographs that i've accumulated over the years..i realized there were many happy and cheerful pictures instead of depressing and gloomy ones.. However..looking at those jovial and good spirits pictures..it made leaving even heavier..the many moments we have shared..the memories..the camaraderie..the bond..i will definitely miss all of these.
A colleague once asked , " is it difficult leaving the school..?" My short reply..."Leaving NPCC is harder.."

Thank you everybody for the kind gesture. Especially to the TOs..i have put together a montage of the many events, camps and stay-overs that bonded us together all these years..forever etched in my memory. THANK YOU maams and Sir.

We went to LASERQUEST as part of POP 2008, just for our sec4s & sec 5s NCOs on Monday evening. It was also a final get-together where the secs 3s can spend memorable time with their senior NCOs. This is a pre-celebration for the actual POP on Friday where a formal presentation will be held. Thank You Sec 4s and sec 5s NCOs for the unsurpassed contributions all these years.

We went for a walk yesterday.. with the secondary 1s & 3s as part of our bonding trip. Our CI, with his greens, made a last minute appearance & joined us for the walk.
We started from Alexandra Arch to Henderson Wave and ended thru Marang Trail. The good weather plus the light shower made the walk more enjoyable...a well deserved break from the routine weekly parade..hehe

Didnt have time to update my blog during the weekend cos it was fully utilized. We went down to Pasir Ris Park early Saturday morning to recee the venue for the upcoming NCOs camp. The last time i visited the place was in ..maybe in late 1995..more than a decade ago when i was till living in the east.
Well, the place has definitely changed a lot, there were more area for children playground, some even look like our own outdoor obstacle courses. There was even a mangrove forest where mudskippers and crabs called their home, followed by a Kitchen Garden where u could find many herbs and spices ..which i think F&N teachers would find themselves at home..unfortunately OPS who promised to meet us there.. apparently overslept due to some heavy duty exercises the nite before..his own words i quoted!!
Zal and Su are OIC & AOIC respectively for the NCOs Camp, were overwhelmed by the place & saw potential on the activities that could be carried out there. I m SO looking forward to the camp.

Last Friday, OPS & I brought 40 students from the school to witness The SYF Parade Opening ceremony 2008 @ the Spore Indoor Stadium. The group consisted of 3 UGs, 50% from NPCC, chiefly to support 2 of our Sgts who were in the GOH contingent. It was definitely the highlight of the ceremony to see them marching past us ever so smartly and proudly. Of coz watching Tabitha & Nicole Tay, our own twin dynamo gymnast, descending from the air during the finale performance, was another highlight for me..hehe Anyway, my Sgts looked extremely smart in the white crisp uniform, making the other cadets green with envy cos they got the opportunity to don the GOH uniform.
However, after the ceremony, there was a long wait to get to the exit cos human traffics had started outside the venue..so what did we do to while our time away. We goofed around to make the wait more bearable..hehe..let the pictures do the talking.

We went for a cave exploration in Gua Tempurung on our 2nd day in Gopeng. We have to climb more that 640 steps, admired the magnificance of nature's art thru the formation of limestone and marble created in million years.
We needed to slide down 10 metres to reach the lower part of the cave, slither through a hole and even swam our way before we could reach the exit. We were blessed that we had our helmets on coz many a times, we hit our head against the cold hard rocks..

It was really a really wild , wet & fun experience.
After lunch we proceeded on for the Whitewater Rafting, where we tackled 22 rapids on Sungai Kampar.
NO PICTURES cos my camera is too precious..hehe However, Mr OPS went manoverboard twice, while i went once! We were accompanied by abled and skillful guides who expertly maneuvered the boat across the river , made more delicate and trickier with bolders and huge pebbles as obstacles. It started to rain during the rafting, that we were required to stop, for safety reason, in case of sudden increase in water tide.

Upon arrival in Gopeng, we were transfered on to another to bring us to our campsite, My GOPENG RESORT. The most exciting part of this journey was the vehicle that brought us there, a small lorry that reminded us of live stocks that were about to be sent to the slaughter house. It was really an exhilarating bumpy ride, with the wind in our face and a breathtaking scenery to boost, it was a ride that will stay in our mind for a long time. Someone likened the ride to a rollercoster, i couldnt agree more. However, i felt it was more elating and invigorating that that, as we had to dodge leaves and branches along the route. Our poor HO, being the tallest amongst us had the rare chance of having slapped many times over...hehe

While waiting for dinner, OPS and other officers explored the area , while i tried my hands on the many games made available there with the NCOs..table tennis, volleyball and pool.

This was the first time that 3 levels of NPCC NCOs embarked on an Overseas Trip. This was also our first time to don on our new yellow unit tshirt. The journey from Spore to Gopeng Perak took an approximate 8 hours with two stops for breakfast and lunch.
During the long journey , there was really nothing to do but sleep and eat, sleep some more and of coz more photo taking. I was glad that the three levels interacted and bonded well.

My sec 1 cadets were ecstatic when their new uniforms arrived earlier than expected. They tried on their new beret which really made them looked like French artist more that a new cadet. A female cadet was rather perplexed when she received a pair of man's boots together with her skirt and her blouse. I was puzzled too...hehe
I guess, another session should be arranged for a lecture on Uniform Etiquette soon, post exam perhaps coz parade has stand down due to the Mid-Year- Examinations.
Good luck 2 all in the coming examinations..Labels: NPCC 08

It was chaotic during the uniform sizing exercise yesterday afternoon. It looked like a designer end-season sale at a 3-star hotel multi-function hall. Footwear were lined at a corner, belts arranged from XS to XXL and of course the pants and the tops. The beret was the trickiest item among the girls, to get one large enuf for the whole length of their plaits..or not.
Looking at JC assisting the sec 1s with the footwear, anyone would agree that he make a really good BATA saleperson...hehe
The sec 1 cadets were really excited that their much-awaited uniform will be available soon. The sec 3s NCOs , on the other hand were equally overjoyed that they could finally changed their ill-fitted uniforms into smarter ones soon.
