Kad raya penganti diri..in the world of e-card and sms, it was really difficullt to get that conventional greeting cards for Hari Raya Aidilfitri- not even in Geylang Serai! Finally got them in a gift shop @ Great World City. It was really overwhelming to pen down thoughts and greetings to my Muslims ex-colleagues, a few have been with me since my day 1 in school.. Zann, Mas & Raf..

Went all over Spore to get that perfect bedsheet..but mission failed!! I went as far as Parkway..hehe..
Anyway, went out with my nieces to get my baju Melayu, a 12 inch songkok and other home essentials..even bought them a perfect pair of shoes each for Hari Raya.

Met up VW in school this morning. She looked funky in her fire engine red pumps.
Anyway its the final check for our O Level Art paper 1, documented them & finally transfered all the required images into the CD.
Finally...submission this Monday.

Its finally Friday.
Its the end of my week long recess but i think I have not achieve much.
I thought of starting on my assignments which i did not.
I thought of completing my shopping for Hari Raya essentials which i have not.
However, I have sent my carpet and my sofa throw for laundry, fixed up my new chandelier for my bedroom & touching up my other wall montage.

I had a group meeting this morning with my AED tutorial group. All of them are in the primary school track..with 2 cross-overs, a returning teacher & a 1st year BASc student.
Many times, we get distracted and started talking about our previous school experience.
I remembered very vividly my first experience as a teacher so many years ago when i was posted to a primary school as a MT teacher. On top of that, i was also doing PE and Art & Craft.
Well, it was a normal mundane morning when I was conducting my PE lesson, untrained, handling a class of super active P1s..anyway to cut a long story short, there was an accident when one of this little pixie fell and hurt her head. I panicked, carried her in my arms with blood covering her face , ran out of the field and into the school, running along the ground floor corridor and literary shouting for help to every classroom that i've ran past. I had actually interrupted the whole of the ground floor due to my inexperience..hehe.
Looking back, i laughed at myself, i supposed i looked rather silly with that poor girl in my arms looking like a lunatic running amok....HAHA Labels: Ramadhan 2008

My tenant wanted to bring his friends over again, he informed me through sms..2nd time this month.
I dun really like him bringing his cousins or friends over, especially to stay over..but i always answered his sms..'OKAY! NOTED!'
However,this time round i replied '..maybe Not!'
He sounded mad in his reply as i guess he did not expect me to say no to him. He brought up the supposedly agreement that we had made which allow him to bring friends home.
If my memory doesnt fail me..i agreed to visits not staying overs...APA JERR!!Labels: Home

 Went to Geylang Serai again with 7 beautiful ladies from Malay class..last nite. I have 2 intelligent ladies from Hong Kong & an inquisitive lady from Ireland from my class while the rest 5 are locals. I've always brought my class, those interested ones to the Geylang serai Bazaar if my class happens to be conducted in the month of Ramadhan.
I guess they learnt a lot from the trip. They can tell the difference between a kebaya and baju kurung, and how to spot the 'chapal', the sandals for male.
I think a few of them wanted to make a second trip with their spouses before the end of Ramadhan.
Was @ Geylang the nite before with my artist-cum-painters, wanted to shop @ Mustapha Centre after that...but took the wrong bus & ended up @ TPY interchange..hehe..so decided to take the last train home instead...hehe

I have managed to squeeze in 2 interviews when i attended Cloe's Birthday. Last evening, Mr & Mrs Koh agreed to be interviewed for my Educational module project.

The interviews were on 'Thinking through inquiring' and 'Experiential Learning'.
I am yet to catch 2 more to complete my interviews segment.

Another scare

I was completing an assignment over the weekend when a paper slipped out of my thick text book.
RT Session!! It started a week ago..!

A date was booked for me when i pay my fine 2 months ago. I Have missed 2 trainings!!
DIE!!
I called SAFRA hotline & said they CANNOT help me!! I need to call Maju Camp myself..but they are having long weekend so i can call them only the next week..i would have missed 3 sessions by then..

It was bleeding profusely that i have to put it to sleep. It has started to bleed more seriously recently that i can take it no more. It has been with me since 5 years ago, very loyal, it was from a good friend & it was a heartbreaking decision to make.
Finally, called a few handymen, caused i dont have the heart to do it.
I have to cut an incision to allow the draining went smoothly. At last...it can rest in peace.

Was flipping through 8 Days magazine this afternoon, my weekly reading pleasure when i came across something i least expected. My own cadet and a friend posing next to our President within the pages of an entertainment magazine.
I immediately sms both of them & told them to purchase many copies & distribute to neighbours, friends..etc..hehe

Attended Cloe's 1st bday party last nite. It was another opportunity to meet up with my ex-colleagues & get acquainted with baby Cloe & baby Bernice. Met up with an ex-tenant and also an ex student.
Well..i also got to interview my colleagues for my impending presentation.
Thank you S & S..appreciated that both of u gracefully accepted my invitation to be interviewed at a short notice.
Also thank u Baby Cloe & mummy for inviting me to your party.

Went to Geylang againn..this time with my kakis..its an annual affair but i must add this year the attendance was much better..hehe. Last year it was only 3 of us, my ex-neigbours & me but this year there were OPS & Mr & Mrs Koh.
It was a chance to meet up & update each other on latest development, plus we get to experience some seasonal Malay food and best sellers. We all decided that the Best Ramly burger is still across the causeway so we gave it a miss. The particular Ayam percik by the particular ayam vendor was missing & he was sorely missed by my HC ex-neighbour. The white otak-otak was also missing from this years' selection..but the must haves were the vadeh & the roti Boyan,Mr Koh's favourite..

Went to Geylang Ramadhan Bazaar, my first visit this year with my students from my Malay class last nite. Was craving for moon cakes actually, so i picked some halal ones before i proceeded to Geylang. I have a lady student from HK who has stayed in Spore for the last 10 years but have not heard or been to a Ramadhan Bazaar. I guess this is the best opportunity for her to know the culture and customs, & of course from her Malay cikgu..hehe..she is my best student i might just add.
Anyway, it was the local students who were busy trying the variety of malay delicacies available there..especially the seasonal 'Boyanese Bread' available only during this festive season.
Well..i guess this will not be my only visit there, coz its an annual affair with different group of people.

Was simply overwhelmed with the amount of readings needed for any assignments given & tutorials too. I supposed im a little rusty already...hehe.
4 assignments handed in already..2 more due in a week's time.
When i share this with my ex-students, they laughed at me...& really empathised with me.
Furthermore i think i really missed the classroom interactions that i have been familiar with for the last 7 years...me as the teacher NOT the student..HAHALabels: Me, NIE

Received an sms from an ex-student about the N Level Art paper. The questions are rather interesting..especially 'mutant' being one of the titles. Well..good luck guys..u all have 3 weeks starting NOW!!!..hehe

Bought my first packet of rice since i moved in 3 years ago. After my good friends bought me a rice cooker & 2 packets of rice for my last birthday, i have been eating home cooked meal recently. Now, with lesser spending power, its only correct i eat more at home & less out.
I've tried experimenting with many dishes too..besides the usual fare of pasta. I've tried cooking chicken rice- successful! Different variation of fried rice -quite palatable..& chicken dishes.
Now with the Ramadhan, i have more excuse to try other recipes too..from the expensive cookbook i've purchased not too long ago..heheLabels: Ramadhan 2008

GOT my washine machine fixed recently..tho temporarily ..coz the gear or spinning mechanism had refused to spin for 3 weeks since. Have been doing hand laundry since the machine broke down...still waiting for the actual spare parts before it could healed completely..

Did not get up for sahur last nite. Bought a comb of bananas to eat with my cereals and a packet of HL milk..thats my usual menu for my pre-dawn breakfast. Well i guess i will have to eat them next morning now. As usual my Sahur indicator, SBS & his alarm did his job well but sometimes i am just too deep in my slumberland to be stirred out of it. We had an interesteing debate this morning during tutorial. In our Communication module, we were give a motion on how much Singlish should be accepted in our teaching in class. The class were divided into 3 groups, the proposition-thats me!-, the oppostion and the judges, made up of 3 rather well-read and intelligents ladies.
It went out longer than expected that even our tutor Dr SH, found it amusing and enlightening. Our tutor is a Taiwanese who has spent much of his educational life in Canada.
When we asked him wat was his opinion on Singlish, being very new to the langauge & all..

Its the first day of Ramadhan.
Allamdullilah, I am able to meet this holy month yet again.
Last nite as i was preparing my e-learning homework, I received many well wishers for the arrival of Ramadhan & a volunteer to give me wake up calls for the pre-dawn breakfast, SAHUR, for the whole of Ramadhan. Anyway, has again 'recruited' SBS to be my alarm clock for Sahur, just like previous year, so now i have 2 alarms..a call & an sms...i have no excuse not to get up now...hehe
I dont really eat much during Sahur, & last nite was no exception. Made myself a nuttella sandwich & a bowl of POST banana cereals drowned in HL milk. Well, for the 1st day, i guess that was rather heavy.
Updating this entry from the NIE library,my 1st time doing so, as I have 3 hours break before my next lecture. Previous weeks, i have been at the canteen with my HC ex neighbour enjoying lunch..but since its Ramadhan i have to coop myself in the library. Cooling & sleep inducing..
