When my lecturer mentioned artist Damien Hirst's name, it sounded familiar but yet i dont seem to recall any of his paintings or masterpieces. Sir also offhandedly mentioned that he found Hirst's work to be outlandisly pompous. Ostentatious to a hilt.
Curiously i googled him. No wonder..
Damien Hirst's latest artwork is this life-size platinum skull encrusted with 8,601 fine diamonds. The sculpture, titled "For The Love of God," will likely sell for as much as $100 million, making it the priciest contemporary artwork ever made.
One of his Natural History series - dead animals, such as a shark (above) , a sheep or a cow, preserved in formaldehyde.
My lecturer also mentioned that Hirst is the one of the richest artist alive coz his works can fetched millions of dollars, such exorbitance is usually reserved for dead artists.
His works are grandiose and, somewhat conceited.
However i m sure my HC neighbour would definitely approve of Hirst.
They have so much in common...hehe Labels: ART
