Was at KL over the weekend cos my niece needed to hand over the rented apartment she had been living for 3 years while pursuing a degree there. I came along for some R&R, cos the exchange rate was really good!

Of course we did some serious shopping, visited The Pavilion and The Curve, where the above Nike store was taken, & we also explored some interesting nooks and corners that even my niece did not noe existed..
We had lunch at this quaint little cafe along Jalan Masjid & according to the waitress it was opened in 1941- if i didnt hear her wrong- & the cafe spells old school charm. With its antique cloak stand, ceiling fan, electrical switches of yesteryears and yellowed wall..i felt that i have been transported back into time. I supposed the menu has not changed much..i had grilled turkey ham & pineapple & goreng pisang with ice-cream.

Next we visited their Pasar Malam, I was fortunate cos they only operate on Saturdays and a weekday... I think its on Wednesday. It was definitely different from the ones we have back here & they offer much varieties too.

There were many first for me from the night market; 1. Pulau Utara Char Kway Teow which was prepared on the spot 2. Nasi Kerabu, a purplish rice with their special sauce & condiments 3. Rangka Ayam- loosely translated as chicken carcass- cos it was basically deep fried whole chicken with not much meat left! I LOVED IT! 4. Penang Pancake with black beans and coconut..anything coconuty i love it! 5. Honeyed Chicken Wings costing RM$1 each!..thats like SG 50cts..

However..we could not finish those food at one sitting that i had to have them for breakfast too the next day! SUCH GLUTTONY..hehe I was sure that my HC photographer neighbour would have a field day capturing all those colourful subjects if she was there. Trust me she would want to capture the hustle & the bustle there...especially since she has this connection with the ayam percik men regardless where she goes...hahaha

We were all set to catch a midnite movie later in the evening but the damned attitude of the mamat at the box-office spoilt our mood. Typical bochap attitude which u might encounter almost everywhere there..REALLY!! So i decided to get a foot reflexology..cos my niece was too ticklish to have anyone near those toes of hers..APA JER!!

My niece's craving for ice-cream brought us to these stretch of eateries and pubs that looked very much like the ones i visited with AK and OPS..once upon a time ago in BKK..where OPS got so tipsy..well i need a whole post for those episodes.
We chanced upon this fish place which we thot served one of the best fish & chips..served with mocktails with fanciful names.

We also had comfort food that brought us back nostalgia..the once popular A&W Rootbeer float & pancake with strawberry toppings... Also Wendys..still remembered my secondary school days when Wendys was still available in Parkway Parade...perhaps a decade ago!..heehee
I felt so guilty having consumed so much...but i was on a holiday afterall..albeit a short one.
