Valentine's Day came & left..an annual affair where florist and restaurants have no qualms raising their prices for these 'suckers in love' ..haha
Anyway, a relative decided to take the opportunity to join in this money-making fun.
He and a friend decided to purchase roses packed in single stalk , & sell then 6 times the original price. With roses in pails, they moved to areas where young couples roamed hand-in-hand oblivious to their surrounding.
Just after midnite on early Saturday morning, they have almost recoup the money they have invested on these roses. Therefore whatever they sold after that, are pure profits. However, by Saturday evening, when Valentine's Day have come to almost an end, they were left with almost 100 stalks more..and the mood for romance had almost vanished too.
It would be a waste to discard those flowers too...so they did something that almost touched my heart. They decided to visit an old folk home, & distribute these flowers personally to all the residents of that home. The officer in charge were equally moved, cos it was a first for the home, as they hardly had any visitors...The elderly were happy and thrilled to receive these flowers too..perhaps the feeling of being loved was a distance away in their memory.
